Saif Ali Khan Updates: Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan sustained grievous injuries after he was stabbed six times by an intruder at his residence in Mumbai’s Bandra area in the early hours of Thursday, police said.

The incident took place when the accused entered Mr Khan’s house for an attempted burglary. Doctors said that Mr Khan, who is undergoing treatment at Lilavati Hospital, is “out of danger”. “We removed a 2.5-inch piece of knife from the spine,” the hospital’s Chief Operating Officer Dr Niraj Uttamani said.

Police said the probe so far has revealed that the attacker entered the actor’s 12th floor flat in Satguru Sharan building to commit burglary. The intruder possibly sneaked in at some point earlier in the night, they added.

According to sources, the accused demanded a ransom of Rs 1 crore after barging into the house.

Amid a political row over the “deteriorating” law and order situation in Mumbai and in Maharashtra overall, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, who holds the home portfolio, said what happened was unfortunate, but it would not be correct to say that the financial capital is unsafe.
